On Friday 10th February, Pilot Officer Tyler of 25 (Parkwood) Squadron RAFAC graduated in the College Hall Officers Mess at RAFC Cranwell along with 14 other officers and SNCOs from around the Corps.

The Combined Initial Course consisted of 5 days of training designed for the newest uniformed members of staff to learn what it is like to do their role but also learn skills that will be useful outside of their roles on squadrons and at other levels.

Throughout the week, the students were assessed on the basic aspects of being a uniformed CFAV:

As well as these assessed areas, Pilot Officer Tyler along with the other students were given lessons on other very crucial parts of the organisation: logistics, safeguarding, security, effective communications, diversity and inclsuion, roles and responsibilities, management, and stress and rescillience.

Air Commodore Tony Keeling also stopped by for a discussion about Project ASTRA and the future of the RAFAC, he also hosted a Q&A session where the students were allowed to ask any questions they may had.

The week concluded with a formal graduation in the College Hall Officers Mess, with awards presented by Squadron Leader Ben Watkinson (SO2 Logs).

Pilot Officer Tyler was given his new rank slides along with the award for “Top Student” on the course, for acheiving the highest grades across all assessed areas on the course.

There is no doubt that Plt Off Tyler will be a tremendous addition to the Organisation and should consider taking on high tariff roles if available, obvious capacity and willingness to develop shows someone who could be a real asset to RAFAC. Fully deserving of his graduation from the CLS.
