On the 16th February 2023, a 2433 (Thanet) Squadron cadet was invited to go along to the inauguration of the new prime warden for the Guild of mace bearers.

Mr Cliff East was to become the new prime warden for 2023 – 2024. He previously was in the Royal Air Force and subsequently was Commanding officer of both, the then 438 (Thanet) and 2433 (Ramsgate) Squadrons. Flt Lt East VR(T) (Rtd) has been the Margate Mace bearer for 8 years.

So it was obvious that he would want a RAFAC cadet to perform the duties of Prime Wardens cadet. We chose Cdt Milo Ainsworth to perform this duty and they are excited about this opportunity.

The event itself, was held at the Pegwell Bay Hotel in Ramsgate, we met mace bearers from all over the UK, including from the Houses of Parliament, and some who were online. Cadet Ainsworth had to carry a smaller wooden mace and in time will also be carrying a banner for some events. It is quite a unique appointment, having only been an Army cadet from Devon being appointed the Prime Wardens cadet previously. This year will also be an important one as it will be one with high profile events, such as the Kings coronation and this will need Cadet Ainsworth to attend some events with the Prime warden.
