It’s not just the RAF that Flies!

Kent Cadets host a talk with the Army Flying Museum about the British Army’s 150 years of flight!

On the evening on Wednesday 6th May, Cadets from around Kent were joined by the Army Flying Museum to learn how the Army A hear some stories from the history of the Army Air Corps.

33 Cadets from across Kent joined the session, held on Microsoft Teams. Among the topics covered was the oldest section of the British Army, the Royal Engineers Balloon Section, who used hot air balloons to enable more effective reconnaissance, and was used with great effect during conflicts in South Africa and Sudan.

Moving through time we discussed the First and Second World Wars which really spurred on the development of aircraft from the first Airships and biplanes like the Sopwith Camel leading to the establishment of the RAF.
