On Thursday 18th June some musical cadets from around the Wing attended a talk about music careers in the Army.

Sgt Mercer, from the Band of the Welsh Guards, spoke to the cadets about his career, covering basic training through to some of his most recent performances.

It was particularly interesting to hear about the performances during lockdown, including the VE Day 75 celebrations at Buckingham Palace and the alternative Trooping the Colour at Windsor Castle. He explained the difficulties the musicians had performing while being socially distanced.

Quote from a cadet “Really interesting, I learned a lot more about life as an army musician, additional qualifications that the army help pay for, operational duties and much more.*
